Toronto Blue Jays Activate Huge Piece of Lineup From Injured List on Friday

The Toronto Blue Jays have activated starting shortstop Bo Bichette from the injured list as the Jays chase a second straight playoff berth.

As the Toronto Blue Jays chase their second straight playoff berth, they have activated star shortstop Bo Bichette off the injured list. He had been out with a quad injury and spent the minimum time on the IL.

Per Kaitlyn McGrath, who covers the Blue Jays:

#BlueJays announce that Bo Bichette has been activated off the IL and Mason McCoy is optioned to Triple A

Bichette is one of the most impactful players in baseball so getting him back for the stretch run will be vital for a Blue Jays team that enters play on Friday at 77-63.

A two-time All-Star, Bichette is hitting .314 this season with 18 home runs and 62 RBI. He's also scored 54 runs while posting a .344 on-base percentage.

In his fifth year in the majors, he's a lifetime .301 hitter with a .341 on-base percentage. He's made the All-Star Game in two of the last three years and has received MVP votes in each of the last two.

At 77-63, Toronto is currently in sole possession of the third and final wild card spot in the American League. They lead the Texas Rangers by 0.5 games for that spot.

Toronto lost to the Seattle Mariners in the wild card round of the playoffs in 2022.

The Jays will start a very winnable series on Friday night with the Kansas City Royals, who is just 44-97.

First pitch is set for 7:07 p.m. ET as Jays' lefty Yusei Kikuchi goes up against Collin Snider.

Kikuchi is 9-5 while Snider is 0-0.
