The Toronto Blue Jays entered Friday up by 1.5 games in the chase for the third and final wild card spot in the American League.

As the Jays push for the playoffs for the second straight year, they could be primed to get back an elite bullpen arm in the form of Chad Green.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Green (elbow) will make one more rehab appearance with Low-A Dunedin on Saturday before then moving up to Triple-A Buffalo, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

ANALYSIS
Green has made two scoreless appearances for Dunedin thus far as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. He appears to be tracking toward and early-August return and could provide a nice boost to the Toronto bullpen.

The 32-year-old was a critical part of the Yankees bullpen 2017-2021 before getting hurt at the beginning of 2022.

He's 33-22 lifetime and owns a 3.17 ERA. He's also worked at the back end of a bullpen, having saved 11 career games. He posts elite strikeout numbers as well, having fanned 494 batters in 383.2 innings. As missing bats becomes more important down the stretch, he could join Erik Swanson, Yimi Garcia and Jordan Romano as great arms in that Toronto bullpen.

The Blue Jays are playing the Los Angeles Angels this weekend at Rogers Centre. Shohei Ohtani of the Angels is already doing more historic things in Game 1 of the series.

The two teams will play again on Saturday and Sunday, which closes out the series.
