Toronto Blue Jays Provide Update on Injured Star Bo Bichette
The Toronto Blue Jays, who have won four straight games and now lead the chase for the American League's final wild card spot, appear like they could get even stronger over the weekend as Bo Bichette could be close to returning.
The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:
Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said in an interview on MLB Network on Tuesday that Bichette (knee) was "moving around with very few symptoms, almost not at all" during a workout Monday, Ben Wagner of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Bichette resumed baseball activities a few days ago and looks to be ramping things back up with encouraging results as he works his way back from patellar tendinitis in his right knee. Toronto has not provided a timetable for the star shortstop's return, but if things continue to trend in the right direction, there seems to be a chance Bichette can be activated when first eligible Friday or shortly thereafter.
Despite the recent success the Jays have had without him, Bichette is integral to their lineup. He's hitting .321 this season, which leads the American League. He also has the most hits in baseball at 144. The two-time All-Star has 17 homers as well.
The Blue Jays are 64-50 on the season and will take on the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night.
First pitch from Cleveland is set for 7:10 p.m. ET as Yusei Kikuchi (TOR) pitches against Tanner Bibee (CLE).
Kikuchi is 9-3 with a 3.67 ERA while Bibee is 7-2 with a 3.14 ERA.
