Toronto Blue Jays Reveal Return Date For Ace Kevin Gausman

The Toronto Blue Jays are set to get back starting pitcher Kevin Gausman from injury this weekend.

The Toronto Blue Jays revealed some good news in that ace pitcher Kevin Gausman is set to make his return this weekend.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Gausman (side) is listed as the Blue Jays' starter for Saturday's game in Seattle, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.

ANALYSIS
It had been reported that Gausman was a go for this weekend after he completed a bullpen session without issue Wednesday and now we know the day he will pitch. The right-hander will be pitching on two weeks' rest after having to be scratched from his last scheduled outing with left side discomfort.

That's big news for a Blue Jays team looking to make the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Entering play on Thursday, the Jays are 53-43 and are currently in a tie for the second/third wild card spot in the American League.

He's been dominant this season, going 7-5 with a 3.03 ERA. He's also struck out 153 batters, which is the most in the American League. It's still the second-most strikeouts in baseball, despite missing his last start.

The 32-year-old is in his 11th year in the big leagues with the Orioles, Braves, Reds, Giants and Blue Jays.

Lifetime, he owns a 83-87 record but he's had winning records each of the last two seasons.

The Blue Jays will be wrapping up a series with the San Diego Padres on Thursday afternoon before heading to Seattle.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET as Blake Snell (SD) pitches against Chris Bassitt (NYM).
