Minnesota Twins Could Lose Another Starter to Injured List
The Minnesota Twins could be on the verge of seeing another starter hit the injured list as Max Kepler is dealing with a knee issue.
If he does end up on the IL, he'll join star infielder Royce Lewis, who is set to be sidelined for more than a month with a quadriceps injury.
Per Bobby Nightengale Jr. of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
Max Kepler was out of the lineup for a second day Sunday, still recovering from hitting a ball off his right knee in Thursday's opener.
"He just couldn't run. If he could play today, he would be out there," Baldelli said. The Twins have Monday off before opening a two-game series at Milwaukee, and "if he's not able to play there, we're going to have to talk about an [injured list] stint."
The Twins are off on Monday before starting a new series on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The 31-year-old native of Germany is in his 10th major league season, all with the Twins. He made his major league debut back in 2015 and has since become one of the more reliable players in the organization.
A lifetime .236 hitter, he hit a career-high 36 homers back in 2019. He is coming off a season in which he hit 24 home runs. A free agent at the end of the year, there had been some thought that the Twins would trade Kepler, but they elected to hold onto him and to move Jorge Polanco instead. He was dealt to the Seattle Mariners.
