The Chicago White Sox are bringing top prospect Oscar Colas back to the major leagues in advance of Tuesday's series opener with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Colas will be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte prior to the White Sox's game Tuesday versus the Blue Jays, Francys Romero of MLB.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Colas was sent down by the White Sox in late April after he batted just .211/.265/.276 in his first 25 games. However, he's been on fire of late with Charlotte, collecting a 1.253 OPS with seven home runs over his last 10 contests to earn another shot in the big leagues. Colas should play regularly in right field at least against right-handed pitching.

At 37-49, the White Sox are certainly in need of a spark, and maybe Colas can provide it.

The 24-year-old is the No. 2 prospect in the organization, per MLB.com.

Per his MLB.com prospect profile:

Colas is an aggressive hitter who combines a quick left-handed stroke and impressive strength to create well-above-average raw power, with most of his home run pop going to his pull side. Yet he also shows adaptability at the plate, using the entire field and toning down his approach with two strikes and also against left-handers. He worries less about power in those situations and just lets his hands work, and he batted .362 versus southpaws last year.

Though he moves well for a 6-foot-1, 220-pounder, Colas possesses just fringy speed and will have to maintain his conditioning to retain it. He spent most of his first U.S. season in center field but is destined for right field, where he’ll have average range and a well-above-average arm...

The White Sox are hoping they see that version of Colas this time around. He has the skills, and they can use his bat in the lineup if they want to stay in the American League Central race.

Entering play on Monday, the Sox are 5.5 games back in the division.
