As the Milwaukee Brewers close in on the National League Central crown, they are also getting good news down on the farm.

Per Brewers Player Development:

Jackson Chourio to Triple-A!

Since July 6, Chourio posted top-10 ranks in Double-A in OPS (.939) and SLG (.559), all while sporting a 14% K-rate (96th percentile) ...

still as the 4th-youngest hitter in the league

The 19-year-old Chourio is the No. 2 prospect in baseball and joins Jackson Holliday (No. 1) as 19-year-olds to be elevated to Triple-A recently.

He was hitting .280 this year at Double-A with 22 homers, 89 RBI and 43 stolen bases.

Per his MLB.com prospect profile:

Chourio brings multiple at least plus tools to the table. His 70-grade speed is perhaps the loudest, and it was a big reason why Milwaukee moved him to center field, where he could cover even more ground than shortstop. What’s more, his contact at the plate is loud and capable of playing everywhere in the park. Brewers officials were often awestruck at how the right-handed slugger thumped the ball to right almost as easily as he did to left.

The Brewers are currently 84-65 and lead the National League Central by 6.5 games over the Chicago Cubs.

They will open up a new series on Monday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. First pitch from Busch Stadium is set for 7:45 p.m. ET.

Brewers' righty Freddy Peralta pitches against Cardinals legend Adam Wainwright, who is going for career win No. 200.

Peralta is 12-8 with a 3.79 ERA while Wainwright is 4-11 with a 7.95.
