The Toronto Blue Jays got encouraging news Wednesday on top prospect Ricky Tiedemann as he recovers from injury.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Tiedemann (biceps) could return for Double-A New Hampshire in three weeks, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

ANALYSIS
The prized southpaw has been sitting 96-97 mph with his fastball during live batting practice sessions as he builds up after getting shut down with biceps inflammation in early-May. As Davidi notes, the Blue Jays have been abundantly cautious this season with Tiedemann, not wanting to rush him back from a spring shoulder injury and this most recent biceps injury. Given the multiple recent arm injuries and high-end velocity, Tiedemann is as risky as they come from a short-term health standpoint.

Given those injuries and the lack of experience, it doesn't seem like the 20-year-old will factor into the Blue Jays plans at the major league level this year, but it's still good news nonetheless. He's a major part of their future in the deeply talented American League East.

A third-round pick in the 2021 draft by the Jays, he's logged 91.1 minor league innings. He threw just 12.2 this year before being shut down.

He is the No. 1 prospect in the organization and the No. 32 prospect in all of baseball.

At the major league level, the Blue Jays are 50-41 and in third place in the American League East. They are tied for the second wild card spot though.

They open up the second half of the season on Friday by hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:07 p.m. ET.
