New York Mets Put Another Starting Pitcher on Injured List
The pitching news continue to be sub-optimal for the New York Mets. Already without Kodai Senga and David Petersen because of injury, the team has now placed right-hander Tylor Megill on the injured list with a shoulder strain.
RHP Tylor Megill has been placed on the 15-Day IL with a right shoulder strain.
RHP Reed Garrett has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.
Megill allowed one earned run over 4.0 innings in his first start of the season this weekend against the Milwaukee Brewers, striking out four. The 28-year-old California native is in his fourth year in the big leagues, all with the Mets. He made a career-high 25 starts last season, pitching to a 9-8 record with a 4.70 ERA.
As for Garrett, he has made four career appearances, all last year. He owns a 3.60 ERA over 5.0 innings. Garrett now joins Jose Quintana, Luis Severino, Sean Manaea and Adrian Houser in the starting rotation.
The Mets were swept by the Brewers this past weekend and kick off a new series on Monday night at Citi Field against the Detroit Tigers. Detroit comes in at 3-0 after sweeping the Chicago White Sox, winning each game by one run.
First pitch on Monday is set for 7:10 p.m. ET as Manaea makes his first career start in a Mets uniform. He'll be opposed by Tigers' youngster Reese Olson.
This will be a three-game series that concludes on Wednesday. The Mets' next off day is slated for Thursday before they embark on their first road trip.
