Juan Soto Joins Group of Yankees Legends in Team History on Friday
In his first two games as a member of the New York Yankees, slugging outfielder Juan Soto has already made quite an impact.
Soto went 3-for-4 on Friday in a 7-1 win over the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. He had an RBI, a walk, and a double. He's hitting a robust .571 through the first two games of the season.
With his early-season performances, Soto has joined a group of Yankees legends in team history.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com on social media:
Juan Soto is the 7th player to reach base safely 3+ times in each of his first 2 games with the Yankees, joining:
2021 Anthony Rizzo
2006 Johnny Damon
2004 Gary Sheffield
1982 Lee Mazzilli
1948 Charlie Silvera
1936 Joe DiMaggio
After acquiring Soto this offseason in a trade with the San Diego Padres, the Yankees are one of the favorites to win the American League pennant. He pairs with Aaron Judge to make one of the best 1-2 punches in all of baseball.
At just the age of 25, Soto is already one of the most accomplished offensive players in baseball. Since making his debut at the age of 19, he is already a three-time All-Star, a four-time Silver Slugger, a batting champion and a Home Run Derby champion.
He's a lifetime .285 hitter who helped the Washington Nationals win the World Series in 2019.
Soto is in his seventh season with the Nationals, Padres and Yankees. He'll be a free agent at the end of the season.
The Yankees and Astros will play again on Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. ET.
