Aaron Nola continued to pad his resume Wednesday afternoon, when he surpassed Phillies great Grover Cleveland Alexander on the club's all-time strikeouts list.

In the bottom of the third inning, Nola struck out Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy to end the inning. It was the 1,410th strikeout of Nola's nine-year Major League career. The strikeout placed him sixth on the Phillies' all-time leaderboard for punch-outs.

Only five Phillies pitchers have struck out more batters than Nola has with the club. Steve Carlton has the franchise record with 3,031. Robin Roberts (1,871), Cole Hamels (1,844), Chris Short (1,585) and Curt Schilling (1,554) all stand between Nola and Carlton. Glover Cleveland Alexander (1,409), Jim Bunning (1,197), Curt Simmons (1,052) and Brett Myers (986) round out the remainder of the top-10.

Nola allowed four runs off seven hits, one home run and no walks over 6.1 innings pitched Wednesday, in the Phillies' series finale against the Dodgers. He exited Wednesday's game in the top of the eighth inning with his club leading 5-4, hoping to salvage what is left of the series, after dropping the first two games.

Phillies star Bryce Harper made his 2023 debut Tuesday night. Wednesday, Harper recorded his first two hits of the season, while drawing two walks.

The Phillies will have Thursday off before opening a three-game series at home against the Boston Red Sox.
