The Boston Red Sox's Double-A affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs, notched a combined no-hitter Sunday afternoon.

Starter Wikelman Gonzalez, reliever Brendan Cellucci and closer Luis Guerrero did not allow a single hit between the three of them against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, powering the Sea Dogs to a 6-2 victory.

Gonzalez, who was making just his second start in Double-A, racked up 10 strikeouts in 6.0 innings, but allowed one earned run due to his four walks. His ERA with the Sea Dogs is now sitting at 0.75, which is equal to his WHIP.

Cellucci came in to relieve Gonzalez in the seventh, right after a six-run frame by the Sea Dogs' batters broke the game open. He walked one batter and struck out another, getting through his 2.0 innings unscathed.

Guerrero walked two men and allowed another run in the ninth, but he still managed to close out the win without giving up a hit. The right-hander from the Dominican Republic now owns a 1.54 ERA through 31 appearances in 2023.

Gonzalez is the No. 3 pitcher and No. 9 overall prospect in the Red Sox farm system, according to SoxProspects.com. Guerrero checks in at No. 8 and No. 25, respectively.

This is the Sea Dogs' second no-hitter of the season, although their last came out of a seven-inning complete game by Chih-Jung Liu on May 5. Exactly one year earlier, Brayan Bello threw a seven-inning no-hitter of his own while he was a member of Portland's rotation.

The Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, meanwhile, got a combined no-hitter from Michael Wacha, Andrew Politi and Chase Shugart on Aug. 12, 2022.

The Red Sox have not had a no-hitter at the major league level since Jon Lester threw one against the Kansas City Royals on May 19, 2008. Just a few months earlier on Sept. 1, 2007, Clay Buchholz threw one as well.
