The Baltimore Orioles are bestowing the highest honor on a longtime member of the media: They are naming their press box after writer Jim Henneman.

Per Dan Connolly, another longtime Baltimore Baseball Writer, on social media:

The @Orioles have announced that the Camden Yards press box is officially being named for longtime writer, scorekeeper and mentor to all, Jim Henneman. So great for @writerhenn

So great for all of us who have dealt with Henny. Great job O’s. Couldn’t be more deserved.

From a bio on Henneman, from Simon & Schuster:

Jim Henneman is a past president of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America now in his seventh decade covering the Orioles. He began his career with the Baltimore News American before joining the Baltimore Sun, working as a baseball beat writer and national columnist with both papers. He is now a columnist for PressBoxOnline.com. He lives in Baltimore, MD.

That certainly is a great honor and it says something that other members of the media are happy for him as well. As the 2024 season gets set to start in just over two months, Henneman should have plenty of opportunity to cover positive moments. The O's won 101 games last year, capturing the American League East crown and appear to be even stronger this year.

One of the youngest teams in the league, guys like Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson continue to grow, and Baltimore has a whole parade of prospects set to debut and contribute in 2024 as well.
