The Orioles, who just won 101 games last season and captured the American League East crown, have not been active at all in free agency, leaving fans frustrated. Perhaps the sale to this group will spur some more action and more spending, which will make fans happy.
However, when new ownership comes in, there's always a concern about the other side of the coin. Will they try to get a new ballpark deal done which impacts taxpayers? Will they threaten relocation? That may seem extreme, but it certainly can happen whenever someone new is in power.
From an on-field perspective, the O's should be one of the best teams in baseball again this season. Even despite the lack of free agent spending, the team boasts some of the best young talent in all of baseball. They have the reigning Rookie of the Year in Gunnar Henderson and the top prospect in baseball in Jackson Holliday, who is expected to make his debut early in 2024.
Spring training begins in just over two weeks.
