Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora addressed the media on Thursday with regards to a past tweet from his starting pitcher.

The Red Sox have called up starting pitcher Matt Dermody for Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians.

Back in 2021, while not with the Red Sox, Dermody posted an anti-homosexual tweet. He took the tweet down eventually, but the screenshots resurfaced on Wednesday night with news of his promotion.

You can read more on that story here.

You can see the full comments from Cora in the video below, but we have provided a partial transcript:

"Obviously, as an organization, we made this decision. As an organization, we've done a lot of stuff to educate our players on the subject... educating them about being inclusive and accepting everybody in the clubhouse and in your working environment. Obviously not too many people with the tweet of Matt, I'm not here to tell him what to say or what to do, but one thing for sure, when you put this uniform on, what we want is for people to be inclusive."

Dermody is a 32-year-old lefty. This will be his first big league game this year. He's pitched in 30 games in his career with the Blue Jays and Cubs.

The Red Sox enter play on Thursday at 31-31 and in last place in the American League East. First pitch against Cleveland is at 7:10 p.m. and then the team will go to New York for a weekend series with the Yankees.
