Boston Red Sox Rookie Gives Nice Salute to Fans and Organization After Solid First Season
After a solid first season in the majors, Boston Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida delivered a nice message to Red Sox nation on social media.
Tyler Milliken of 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston saw the message and shared it:
Masataka Yoshida thanked Red Sox fans for all their support this season on IG.
“It was a real honor to play for the Boston Red Sox during my first season in the Majors and it was so exciting to play at such an amazing ballpark in front of the most passionate fans in baseball.”
The full message is written in both Japanese and English and reads like this:
Thank you to the amazing Red Sox fans for all your support this season.
“It was a real honor to play for the Boston Red Sox during my first season in the Majors and it was so exciting to play at such an amazing ballpark in front of the most passionate fans in baseball.”
I'm going to work hard in the off-season so that next season I'll come back stronger and deliver the results that the Red Sox fans can be proud of. Thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing you next spring!
He signed a five-year, $90 million deal with the Red Sox last offseason and made an offensive impact almost immediately. In 140 games, he hit .289 with a .338 on-base percentage. He slugged 15 home runs and brought in 72 runs, generally hitting in the middle of the Sox' order.
It will be interesting to see what the Red Sox do in the offseason to help support the lineup, but they are rumored to be players for Yoshida's WBC teammate Shohei Ohtani, who is the biggest free agent on the market.
They finished 78-84 and in last place in the AL East.
