Boston Red Sox Rookie to Be Mic'd Up on Sunday Night Baseball
Boston Red Sox rookie Triston Casas will be "mic'd up" for ESPN this Sunday Night Baseball when the Red Sox host the St. Louis Cardinals at Fenway Park.
Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe had the report initially, putting it out on Twitter:
"#RedSox 1B Triston Casas will be mic'd up for @espn Sunday Night Baseball this week to talk with the crew, which is usually around the 2nd or 3rd inning. #Cardinals - #RedSox at 7:10 p.m."
This should make for a unique interview as Casas is a very interesting young player. He certainly has his own style, from sunbathing in the outfield before games last year to painting his nails before games this year.
He's also starting to pick it up at the plate as well. The former first-round pick is only hitting .161 but now has four home runs and has drawn 15 walks in his last 15 days.
Kudos to ESPN as well, who is finding unique players and storylines to mic-up this year. Last week, they interviewed a superstar in Mookie Betts when the Los Angeles Dodgers took on the Padres, and earlier this year, they mic'd up Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado during an inning behind the plate.
Before we can get to that though, the Red Sox have to finish out a series with the Atlanta Braves. The Sox will play the Braves tonight at 7:20 p.m. ET before an off-day on Thursday.
The Cardinals come to town beginning Friday night, when first pitch is 7:05 p.m. ET.
