The Texas Rangers got bad news on Tuesday night as star shortstop Corey Seager left the game against the Kansas City Royals with a hamstring injury.

He left in the fifth inning.

The 28-year-old Seager is in the second year of a 10-year, $325 million deal that he signed before the 2022 season. The Rangers have spent big the last two offseasons, signing Seager, Marcus Semien, Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney, Jon Gray and Nathan Eovaldi to help bolster the teams playoff chances. The Rangers haven't played meaningful October baseball since 2016.

He's off to a fantastic start this year for the Rangers, hitting .359 with one home run and four RBI, and posting an OPS of 1.007.

For his career, he's a .287 hitter with 138 home runs. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, helping them win the World Series during the shortened 2020 COVID season.

Seager was replaced in this game by Josh Smith, who came onto run for him. At the time of this posting, the Rangers lead 3-2 in the seventh inning. Texas took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a Brad Miller single but Kansas City tied it in the third on a Bobby Witt Jr. hit.

The Rangers took the lead back in the third on a double by Nate Lowe and then added on as Adolis Garcia hit a sac fly to make it 3-1.

Kansas City got one back in the fourth on a hit by Franmil Reyes.
