Chicago Cubs' Legend Kris Bryant Goes Yard vs. Former Team as Member of Colorado Rockies
Former Chicago Cubs star and current Rockies player Kris Bryant homered against his former team for the first time on Tuesday night as part of a Rockies victory.
Per ESPN Stats & Info:
Kris Bryant hit his first career HR against the Cubs tonight.
Bryant hit 160 homers in parts of 7 seasons with the Cubs, 2nd-most for the franchise since he debuted in 2015 behind only Anthony Rizzo.
Bryant went 2-for-4 on the night with three RBI and two runs scored. It's been an injury-plagued season for Bryant, who is now hitting .255 this year with nine home runs and 26 RBI. He's only registered 251 at-bats over 67 games.
Bryant starred for the Cubs from 2015-2021, winning a Rookie of the Year award, an MVP award and being named a four-time All-Star. He also helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016.
Since leaving Chicago during the 2021 season, the career trajectory has certainly slowed. Traded at the deadline in 2021 to the San Francisco Giants, Bryant hit .262 with seven home runs over 51 games. He then signed a seven-year deal with the Rockies before the 2022 season and has mustered only 109 games played over nearly two seasons. He's hit just 14 home runs and driven in 40 runs in Colorado.
The Rockies and Cubs will play again on Wednesday afternoon at Coors Field. First pitch is set for 3:10 p.m. ET as Jameson Taillon (CHC) pitches against Ty Blach (COL).
Taillon is 7-9 with a 5.27 ERA while Blach is 2-1 with a 4.58.
