The Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins on Friday afternoon by a score of 4-1.
The win moved the Cubs to an even .500 at 16-16 while the loss dropped the Marlins under .500 at 16-17. The Cubs are now four games back in the National League Central while Miami is 6.5 back in the NL East.
The story of the win for Chicago was the pitching of starter Justin Steele.
The lefty moved to 5-0 on the year and lowered his earned run average to 1.45 in the win. He surrendered just six hits and one earned run while walking none and striking out four.
After the game, Steele's teammate Marcus Stroman heaped praise upon him, tweeting:
Wrigley was rocking. Steele is the best pitcher in baseball. Seiya timely knock. Happ with the clutch long ball. Mervis first big league hit and RBI. LEITSHOW closing it out. Today was a good day! @Cubs

Steele has posted a 0,96 WHIP this season to go along with 36 strikeouts in 43.1 innings.
He's a former fifth-round pick (2014) who made his debut with the Cubs in 2021. He's 13-11 in his career with a 3.12 ERA.
He's also on quite an impressive run, which the MLB Network Twitter account posted:

Fourteen straight starts of two or fewer runs? Maybe Stroman is right. Steele is one of only two pitchers in the NL to have five wins. Clayton Kershaw is the other.
