The Chicago White Sox are expected to get back outfielder Eloy Jimenez from the injured list on Friday night when they open up a series with the Baltimore Orioles, but they could end up losing third baseman Yoan Moncada, who might be headed for the injured list.

Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, who covers the White Sox, put out a tweet on Friday morning:

"Expecting Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) to return from IL and in White Sox lineup. Has looked ready in recent days. Would not expect Yoan Moncada (back) to be ready after missing the Twins series. A retroactive IL stint in realm of possibilities."

Those sentiments were echoed as well by Yahoo! sports, who posted this about Moncada on its fantasy baseball input:

"A trip to the IL looks to be just a possibility, but even if the White Sox aren't ready to make that move yet, Moncada doesn't appear ready to play. The third baseman has been on the shelf all week with a back issue that is coming along slowly. Chicago has been using Hanser Alberto and Jake Burger at the hot corner during Moncada's absence."

Injuries have been a frustration for both Jimenez and Moncada recently. The 28-year-old Moncada played in just 104 games last season for the White Sox, who failed to make the playoffs. He was off to a good start this year, hitting .308 in his first nine games.

Jimenez, 26, played in just 84 games a season ago and played in just 55 in 2021. He's hitting .211 through five games played this year.

The White Sox series against the Orioles begins tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET.
