Chicago White Sox Seem to Be Phasing Out Veteran Infielder
The Chicago White Sox appear to be phasing out longtime veteran Elvis Andrus.
The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal ahead of the White Sox series finale with the Oakland Athletics.
Andrus is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
Andrus has a .544 OPS for the season and is 3-for-21 over his past eight games. The veteran infielder is on the bench for the fourth time in Chicago's past five contests as Zach Remillard appears to have taken hold of the starting job at second base.
Andrus also made an error on Saturday which allowed the Athletics to walk the game off in extra innings. He had entered the game as a pinch-runner. He is hitting just .202 this season with two homers, 17 RBI and six steals.
Regardless of what's happened this year, it's been a great career for Andrus. He's in his 15th year in the big leagues with the Texas Rangers, Athletics and White Sox. Lifetime, he's a .268 hitter with 98 homers and 748 RBI. He is a two-time All-Star and is part of the 2,000 hit club.
Remillard is hitting .382 in limited action.
The White Sox enter play on Sunday at 36-49 and 6.0 games back in the American League Central.
They will be off on Monday but will be back in action on the July 4th holiday as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays in Chicago.
First pitch in that game is set for 8:10 p.m. ET. We know that Chris Bassitt will pitch for Toronto while the White Sox haven't named a starter yet.
