Chicago White Sox Kick Off Firesale By Dealing Two Prominent Pitchers to Los Angeles Angels
The Chicago White Sox have kicked off their firesale a few days early, trading starting pitcher Lucas Giolito and hard-throwing reliever Reynaldo Lopez to the Los Angeles Angels.
The move continues to show the Angels' commitment to making a run this season, as just hours earlier they pulled Shohei Ohtani off the trade market.
The White Sox officially announced the trade on social media:
The #WhiteSox have acquired minor-league switch-hitting catcher Edgar Quero and left-handed pitcher Ky Bush from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-handers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo López.
- In Giolito, the Angels are a getting a pitcher that is 6-6 this year with a 3.79 ERA. He's made 21 starts, striking out 131 batters in 121.0 innings. In his career, he's 59-53 with a 4.26 ERA. He made the All-Star team back in 2019.

Both he and Giolito will be free agents at the end of the year.
