Cincinnati Reds Post Awesome Elly De La Cruz Highlights to Close Out 2023

As the Cincinnati Reds look back at a successful 2023 season on social media, they deemed their No. 1 moment of the year to when Elly De La Cruz stole second, third and home against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cincinnati Reds have deemed Elly De La Cruz's stolen bases of second, third and home against the Milwaukee Brewers to be their best moment of 2023. De La Cruz accomplished the feat all in the same sequence back in mid-July.

The team, which finished 82-80 and missed the playoffs, was re-living some of its best moments on social media as the year reaches its conclusion, with De La Cruz's baserunning being No. 1.

We wrote about the feat as it happened. You can learn more about the whole sequence here, and you can watch the sequence from the Reds below:

De La Cruz was one of the most exciting stories in baseball in 2023. Though he finished on a cold note, his blend of speed, power and throwing strength captivated baseball fans for months and kept the Reds in the playoff race until the last week of the season.

The 21-year-old native of the Dominican Republic hit .235 after his promotion in mid-June with 13 home runs and 35 stolen bases. If he finds a way to improve his .300 on-base percentage in 2024, he's absolutely a threat to steal 50-60 bases over the course of a full season. He also has 25-30 home run potential.

Along with De La Cruz, the Reds have some of the best, young position player talent in baseball. De La Cruz pairs with Matt McLain, Spencer Steer, Christian Encarnacion-Strand, Noelvi Marte and others to make a fun nucleus.

The Reds are hoping to make the playoffs for the first time since the COVID 2020 season next year.
