Yes, the Cincinnati Reds right now are seemingly all about Elly De La Cruz. Since the prospect came up to the big leagues on Tuesday, he's been the talk of baseball. In fact, he's already made some unique baseball history through two games.

But Will Benson crashed the De La Cruz party with some heroics of his own on Wednesday night, lifting the Reds to an 8-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers by hitting a walk-off home run. That home run was the first ever home run for Benson, putting him in an exclusive company in team history.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com has more on Twitter:

Will Benson is the 3rd player in Reds franchise history with a walk-off HR for his 1st career HR, joining:

8/20/09 Drew Stubbs

5/31/08 Jay Bruce

110th player in MLB history to do so overall

That's a pretty cool way to get your first career home run! Benson went 2-5 on the night with the homer and a run scored. He's hitting just .196 this season through 51 at-bats, but that's a great way to get some momentum going.

He made his major league debut in 2022 with the Cleveland Guardians, playing in 28 games.

The Reds are certainly must-watch TV right now. Between De La Cruz, pitcher Andrew Abbott, and infielder Matt McLain, the team is one of the youngest and most exciting in baseball.

After the win, the Reds are now 29-33 and are 5.0 games back out of first place in the National League Central.

The Reds will be off Thursday before playing the Cardinals on Friday night.
