Just days away from the August 1 trade deadline, Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez is garnering heavy interest, per reports from Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that scouts from several rival clubs having been keeping an eye on him, with the Rangers, Rays, Reds, Phillies and Diamondbacks among those keeping tabs.

The 30-year-old Rodriguez has only made 15 starts this year because of an injured list stint in the middle of the season but has enjoyed a great year when he's been available. He's 6-5 with a 2.95 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. He's also struck out 91 batters in 88.1 innings.

Rodriguez would come to a contender with significant playoff experience, having helped the Red Sox win the World Series in 2018. He's pitched in the playoffs in three different years.

For his career, he's 75-49 with a 4.05 ERA. He's in his eighth year with the Red Sox and Tigers. It's really his ninth year of major league baseball but he did not play in the 2020 COVID season because he was diagnosed with myocarditis.

Rodriguez signed a five-year deal before the 2022 season in Detroit but that deal contains an opt-out after this year. An acquiring team would assume the three years and $49 million left on his deal, but Rodriguez could opt-out after the year and test the free agent market again.

The Tigers are currently 46-55 and in third place in the American League Central. They are playing a doubleheader with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday.
