Fans Go Viral For Heartwarming Shohei Ohtani Sign at Angels-Mets Game
As the Los Angeles Angels take on the New York Mets on Saturday night in New York, some fans are going viral for their awesome sign in support of Shohei Ohtani.
Some fans with a sign reading "Please use my ligament" made the rounds on social media, even catching the attention of MLB.com researcher and noted baseball personality Sarah Langs.
Ohtani learned this week that he'd need to stop pitching for the rest of the year because of an injury to his UCL. While nothing is official yet, there is fear that Ohtani could need a second Tommy John surgery and could need to stop pitching for all of 2024 as well.
Ohtani is seeking a second opinion, but fans who enjoy watching Ohtani be a two-way superstar are certainly willing to go the extra mile for him.
At the time of this posting, Ohtani is 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of extra-base hits and is now hitting .308 this season with 44 home runs and 92 RBI. He's very likely to win his second American League MVP award in the last three years.
On the mound this season, he finishes with a 10-5 record and a 3.14 ERA. He struck out 167 batters in 132.0 innings.
The Angels entered play on Saturday at 62-67 overall and in fourth place in the American League West. After going all-in at the trade deadline, they are 10.0 games back in the wild card spot and appear likely to miss the playoffs yet again.
