After current Miami Marlins' superstar Jazz Chisholm took former Marlins infielder Miguel Rojas to task on a recent edition of "The Pivot" podcast, former Marlins' Team President David Samson fired back at Chisholm.

Let's start with the original comments from Chisholm, which centered on a poor clubhouse culture in Miami when he first came up. He didn't name Rojas specifically, but it's apparent to everyone that that's who he's talking about.

From Fish on First, who had the transcript of his comments.

"My first three years in the big leagues were the worst three years of probably my life," Chisholm said. "Outside of baseball was great, but playing baseball, which that was the thing that really I loved doing more than anything else, was the worst. I got to where I wanted to get to at that point—not to the level of it yet, but I got to the big leagues—and I hate it..."

"Our team captain tried to get me out of here," Chisholm insists. "My team captain would come and tell me, 'Bro you're the best on the team, bro. Keep on going, bro. You're gonna be great. You're gonna lead us one day.' But then the next two seconds, he's in (manager Don Mattingly's) office telling the manager something, and then the manager coming and telling me, 'Bro, this is what your team captain said.'

The Samson rebuttle was made on the Wednesday edition of the Dan Le Batard Show:

“For him to say that Miguel Rojas is a bad person is incredibly disingenuous…

What have you done Jazz? Nothing… …they would’ve kicked your ass and that would have been the end of you…” -

@DavidPSamson has strong words for Marlins Second Baseman/Centerfielder, Jazz Chisholm Jr.

The 26-year-old Chisholm is a foundational piece for the Marlins and one of the most talented young players in baseball. He made his debut in 2020 and then broke out in 2021 by hitting 18 homers and stealing 23 bases. Last year, he hit 19 homers and stole 22 bases.

With Jorge Soler gone in free agency, Chisholm will be a major part of what the Marlins do in 2024. They made the playoffs a season ago as a wild card team.

Samson served as Team President for the Marlins from 2002-2017.
