After being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday in advance of the Major League Baseball trade deadline, now-former Seattle Mariners closer Paul Sewald took to Instagram to express his appreciation for his time in the organization.

"SEATTLEEEEEE!!!! What can I say but thank you! Thank you to the organization, to the coaches, to my teammates and to you fans for making these last 3 years incredible. I've made memories and friendships here I will cherish forever! I am honored to have been part of the team that brought playoff baseball back to Seattle. I will never forget that night and I will never forget the support you showed us. This city gave me and my family so much, and I hope you saw I gave you everything I had, every single night. A part of me will forever be a Mariner!"

The 33-year-old Sewald blossomed into one of the top relievers in the American League since arriving in Seattle in 2021. Over his three years with the team, he saved 52 games and pitched to a 2.88 ERA.

Lifetime, he's in his seventh year in the big leagues with the Mets and Mariners. He'll go to a Diamondbacks team that is battling it out in both the National League West and the wild card races.

Entering play on Tuesday, the Diamondbacks are 3.5 games back of the division and tied for the final wild card spot.

The Mariners are 3.5 games back of the final wild card spot in the American League.
