Game 1 of ALDS Between Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers Delayed Due to Weather
Game 1 of the ALDS between the Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers has been delayed due to inclement weather, the teams announced Saturday just after noon local time.
The contest was initially set to start at 1:03 p.m. ET at Camden Yards. Instead, the Orioles announced the game would get underway at approximately 2:15 p.m.
A large storm front is currently sweeping through the Northeast. Precipitation is expected to stop in Baltimore around 2 p.m. ET, and most of the heavy rain has already moved north.
Saturday's game will mark the first postseason action at Camden Yards since 2014. The Orioles went 101-61 this year, winning the AL East for just the second time in 25 years.
Unlike Baltimore, Texas did not have a bye past the Wild Card Series. The Rangers went on the road and swept the Tampa Bay Rays this week, winning the two games by a combined 11-1.
It was Texas' first series victory since 2011, when they made the World Series for the second consecutive year. The club has still never taken home a championship, however.
Right-hander Kyle Bradish is the Orioles' starter for Game 1. The second-year hurler will face off against veteran Andrew Heaney, who was selected as the Rangers' Game 1 starter.
