Update: (3:00 p.m. ET) The Toronto Blue Jays are breathing a sigh of relief as the team announced that star George Springer has been diagnosed with a right hand contusion. X-rays came back negative.

Springer left the game against the Chicago White Sox early after being hit on right hand by a pitch from starter Michael Kopech. He was hit by the pitch in the third inning and stayed into play defense but was lifted for a pinch-hitter before his next at-bat.

The 33-year-old is a pillar of the Blue Jays stellar lineup, pairing with Matt Chapman, Vlad Guerrero Jr., Alejando Kirk and others to make one of the best lineups in all of baseball.

He's a career .268 hitter who is off to a slow start this year at .216. He has three home runs, nine RBI and four stolen bases thus far.

He's in his tenth season in the big leagues and third with the Blue Jays. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Astros organization and helped them win the 2017 World Series, when they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers.

At the time of this posting, the Blue Jays lead the White Sox, 5-0, in the bottom of the seventh inning.
