Happy birthday to Baseball Hall of Famer and Kansas City Royals legend George Brett, who turns 70 on Monday.

The Hall of Fame tweeted a birthday message at one of its members:

Happy 70th birthday to one of the greatest hitters of the 1970s, Hall of Famer George Brett! His 1979 season is one of just 7 in AL/NL history where a batter recorded at least 20 doubles, 20 triples & 20 HRs.

Brett was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999 after a season that spanned 21 years, all with the Royals.

Brett was a lifetime .305 hitter who hit 317 career homers. A member of the 3,000 hit club (3,154) as well, Brett led the majors in at-bats twice, hits three times, doubles twice, triples three times, on-base percentage once -- and he won three batting titles. He hit .333 in 1976, .390 in 1980 and .329 in 1990.

Brett was also named to the All-Star team 13 times and won a World Series in 1985. He was named MVP of the American League in 1980 as well.

Matt Derrick, who is a Kansas City Sports insider, also tweeted out some Brett accomplishments:

There’s so many absurd things about George Brett’s career, including this: he won three batting titles, won two OPS crowns without winning the batting title and then there was 1979. Six different seasons between 1976 and 1990 that were career kind of years.

As for the modern-day Royals? They're in San Diego taking on the Padres. The series begins Monday at 9:40 p.m. ET.
