Kansas City Royals' Bobby Witt Jr. Joins Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. in Rare Air This Season

While the Kansas City Royals are certainly rebuilding, they do have a centerpiece of that rebuild in Bobby Witt Jr. The second-year player has a power-speed combo that only Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Atlanta Braves can match this year.

The bad news is that the Kansas City Royals are one of the worst teams in all of baseball. In fact, thanks to the A's seven-game win streak, the Royals now officially have the fewest wins in baseball (18) and the lowest winning percentage in baseball (.269). They've lost eight straight games and nine of their last 10.

That's the bad news.

The good news is that while the team is certainly rebuilding, at least they have a centerpiece of that rebuild in young infielder Bobby Witt Jr. The 23-year-old former No. 2 overall pick in the draft is putting up some rare statistical numbers this season.

Per @OctagonBaseball on Twitter:

.@BwittJr 11th HR of 2023; only he and Ronald Acuna Jr. have greater than 10 home runs and 20 stolen bases so far in 2023 #Royals

Acuna is seen as an MVP candidate in the National League so Witt joining him in a power-speed conversation is certainly very, very encouraging. While he's only hitting .237 this year, he does have the 11 homers, 30 RBI and 20 stolen bases.

He made his major league debut in 2022 and continues to get better. Now, he just needs the rest of the Royals to join him. Vinnie Pasquantino is another piece of the rebuild, but unfortunately he's on the injured list right now.

The Royals lost to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday by a score of 5-4. The two teams will play again on Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. ET.

Daniel Lynch will go for KC while Ben Lively pitches for Cincinnati.
