Longtime Major League Veteran Eduardo Escobar Passes U.S. Citizenship Test
Congratulations are in order for longtime MLB veteran Eduardo Escobar, who just passed his U.S. Citizenship test!
Escobar, who was just traded from the New York Mets to the Los Angeles Angels, was away from his new team so he could take the test.
A jubilant Escobar posted a picture on social media with a heartwarming caption.
"Today is a very special day for me after becoming an American citizen. I will always be grateful to this country where it has given me a lot in my career. I thank God for my family, my children, my parents, fans for always being with me in my good and bad moments,
The Rotowire fantasy baseball portal posted that Escobar will be available for the Angels on Tuesday night.
The Angels activated Escobar from the restricted list Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Escobar was excused from the team Monday to take -- and successfully pass -- his United States citizenship test. He is not in the Angels' starting lineup Tuesday night against the White Sox but should be available off the bench.
The 34-year-old Escobar is in his 13th year in the big leagues with the White Sox, Twins, Diamondbacks, Brewers and Mets. He made the All-Star Game in 2021 and is a lifetime .254 hitter.
This season, he's hitting .236 with four home runs and 16 RBIs.Â
He spent seven years with Minnesota, which is certainly the most recognizable spot in his career.
The Angels play the White Sox at 9:40 p.m. ET.Â
