Luis Robert Jr. of Chicago White Sox Trolls Chicago Cubs Fans After Monster Home Run Tuesday
The Chicago White Sox beat the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night by a score of 5-3 at Wrigley Field.
White Sox superstar Luis Robert Jr. delivered the backbreaking blow in the game, unleashing a home run in the seventh inning which broke a 3-3 tie.
Robert Jr. went viral on the internet for the blast because after hitting it, he immediately turned to the Cubs crowd behind home plate and "shushed them."
You can see the interaction here from Jomboy Media's "Talkin' Baseball" on social media:
Kevin Powell of WGN Radio had the answer from Robert as to why he did it:
Luis Robert on HR in 7th: "The pitcher was throwing hard and I was too aggressive in that at bat. When I swung and missed, the fans started making jokes and booing and I didn't like that. That's why when I hit the ball I did what I did because I didn't like the fans reaction."
The White Sox are mired in a terrible season which has them in fourth place in the American League Central. They traded away several key players at the trade deadline as well, but despite that, Robert Jr. has come into his own this year.
The 26-year-old outfielder made the All-Star team for the first time and is hitting .273 with 32 homers and 66 RBI. He's also posted an .894 OPS and has recorded 16 stolen bases.
The White Sox are now 48-72 and will take on the Cubs again on Wednesday at 8:05 p.m. ET.
