Minnesota Twins GM Interviews For Boston Red Sox GM Position

Minnesota Twins general manager Thad Levine has interviewed for the Boston Red Sox open GM position.

The Boston Red Sox are looking to fill their open general manager position after firing Chaim Bloom, and Minnesota Twins general manager Thad Levine is one of the candidates who has interviewed this week.

While Levine has the GM title in Minnesota, he's the No. 2 in the department behind Derek Falvey, who turned down the Red Sox for an interview.

Levine is joined by former Pirates GM Neal Huntington in the interview process, as well as Cubs AGM Craig Breslow. There are internal candidates as well.

Per an MLBTradeRumors article on the situation:

Of the four names known to have interviewed, Levine is the only one currently working as a general manager, but even so, he isn’t the top decision-maker in the Twins organization. He works under president of baseball operations Derek Falvey, who, funnily enough, declined an interview with the Red Sox himself (per Chad Jennings of The Athletic). While Levine is surely enjoying his team’s recent success, he might enjoy the chance to be the chief baseball executive for a new organization, especially one that typically runs a much higher payroll than Minnesota...

The Twins just won the American League Central and took a series from the Toronto Blue Jays in the wild card round before losing to the Houston Astros in the ALDS.

Boston finished last in the American League East, the third last-place finish in the last four years for the organization. They do possess several exciting young pieces and a burgeoning farm system, so the idea that they could quickly turn it around is not farfetched.
