An Amazing Stat Regarding the Bizarre Season of Minnesota Twins Righty Sonny Gray

Sonny Gray has had a good statistical season, but hasn't gotten a win how long?

The Minnesota Twins lost to the Kansas City Royals 8-5 in extra-innings on Friday night.

We covered the history-making walk-off grand slam from Royals young stud Bobby Witt Jr. here, but there's something else to come out of this game as well: More misfortunate for Twins righty Sonny Gray.

The following comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Gray did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings against the Royals. He struck out five without issuing a walk.

ANALYSIS
Gray held up his end of the bargain, posting his fourth quality start in his last six turns, but once again his teammates let him down. Improbably, Gray has now gone 15 straight starts without a win, with his last coming all the way back on April 30. The right-hander expressed some frustration after his July 17 start, mostly with himself. He has a 3.22 ERA over 117.1 innings this season and his luck has to turn eventually.

With a 3.22 ERA and 115 strikeouts in 117.1 innings, you'd think Gray could get some more wins, but it just hasn't happened. He's still stuck on 4-4 this season.

The 33-year-old is a lifetime 94-81 with a 3.54 ERA over 11 seasons with the A's, Yankees, Reds and Twins.

After that win, the Royals are now 30-75 and in last place in the American League Central. The loss was critical for Minnesota, who is now 54-51 and has lost three straight.

They only lead the Cleveland Guardians by 1.5 games in the division.
