The Baltimore Orioles could look to make a big trade this offseason in order to help clear their outfield logjam, according to O's Insider Roch Kubatko.

The O's have several options in their outfield, including a pair of young prospects (Colton Cowser and Heston Kjerstad) who could be ready for full-time roles next year. With those two beating down the door, either Austin Hays or Anthony Santander could be on the way out.

The industry speculation is that the Orioles will trade an outfielder to thin the crowd, with the most interest in Santander and Hays among the veteran crew. But only if the right offer comes along, of course.

Currently, the O's have Hays, Santander, Cowser, Kjerstad, Cedric Mullins, Kyle Stowers and Ryan McKenna on the 40-man roster.

Should the O's look to deal either of Hays or Santander, expect their to be significant suitors. A team like the Seattle Mariners, for instance, could look to acquire one of them to replace the outgoing Teoscar Hernandez.

We had heard earlier this month that the Miami Marlins could also be a player for Santander's services. They could use him to replace the outgoing Jorge Soler.

Santander had another powerful year in 2023 for Baltimore, hitting 28 homers and bringing in 95. He hit .257 over 591 at-bats as well. Lifetime, the 28-year-old is a .248 hitter with 111 homers.

He hit a career-high 33 homers in 2022.

As for Hays, he made his first All-Star team this season. The Orioles won 101 games and won the American League East before losing to the Texas Rangers in the ALDS.
