The New York Mets haven't given fans a whole lot of reasons to smile this year. Armed with World Series expectations entering the year, the Mets are one of the most disappointing teams in recent memory, entering play on Thursday at 36-44.

That said, even bad teams have nice moments, and such was the case on Thursday when the Mets social media accounts put out a heartwarming video of Francisco Lindor meeting with fans.

Lindor surprised fans who were talking about voting for Lindor to make the All-Star Game.

You can watch it below:

It's always good to see a superstar take the time to meet fans - especially the kids - as you create memories for life.

While the Mets have disappointed this season, Lindor is getting hot. His batting average is a low .224 but he's got 16 homers, 54 RBI and has nine stolen bases.

For his career, Lindor is a .274 hitter who has played for the Guardians and the Mets. He signed a 10-year, $341 million deal with the Mets before the 2022 season.

He's a four-time All-Star already who has also won two Gold Glove awards, two Silver Slugger awards and a Platinum Glove.

The Mets will take on the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday night at 7:10 p.m. ET. Adrian Houser will pitch for Milwaukee against Max Scherzer, who is 7-2 with a 3.95 ERA this season.

The Mets will play the Giants in New York over the weekend.

The All-Star Game will be played on July 11 in Seattle.
