Here at Fastball and FanNation, we've written a lot about New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso this year.

And he keeps re-writing the team record books, so we're going to keep writing about him.

After hitting another home run on Saturday against the Colorado Rockies, Alonso did it again.

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Pete Alonso is the 1st player in MLB to reach the 20-HR mark this season.

He reached the mark in 53 games, the 2nd-fewest games needed to reach 20 HR in a season in Mets history, trailing just Dave Kingman in 1976 (51 games).

Alonso has been red-hot this season from a power perspective. His 20 homers lead all of baseball (Jorge Soler of the Marlins is second with 17) while his 46 RBIs are tied for second in baseball (Adolis Garcia leads with 49).

For the season, he's hitting .239 with an .897 OPS.

The former second-round draft pick out of Florida won the Rookie of the Year award in 2019 and is a two-time All-Star selection. He's received MVP votes in two separate seasons as well.

Lifetime, he's a .259 hitter with 166 homers and 426 RBI.

The Mets are currently 27-26 and tied for second place in the National League East. They are 4.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves and are tied with the Miami Marlins.

The Mets will take on the Rockies again on Sunday at 3:10 p.m. ET. They will be off on Memorial Day Monday before hosting the Philadelphia Phillies for a new series on Tuesday.
