Oakland Athletics Do Something That Hasn't Been Done in Baseball History For 90 Years

Here at Fastball and FanNation, we're a fan of baseball history. Big fans, actually.

We enjoy telling you nuggets like about how incredible Christopher Morel's start to the season is, or about the incredibly niche history that Giants pitcher Sean Manaea made on Monday.

We don't like reporting on history as it relates to negative things, but that's what we have with the Oakland Athletics.

The A's are now 10-40 and now have the worst record in baseball history through 50 games since the 1932 Boston Red Sox. Josh Dubow of The Associated Press first tweeted the information.

1) You have to feel bad for the A's and their fans. I know it's business and pro sports and we aren't supposed to feel bad for pro athletes, but how could you not? These players go out and lose four out of every five games, and much of them are lopsided. The A's have already allowed 10+ runs in 16 different games this year. And how do you not feel bad for manager Mark Kotsay, who got his first managerial gig last year. He knew he'd get a rebuilding team, but this?

2) You also feel bad for the fans because in addition to a dreadful product to watch, there's also no hope for the future. Even if the A's develop into a good team in a few years, there's a good chance it will be in Las Vegas, where the team is reportedly close to moving.

You look at the A's lineup on Tuesday night against the Mariners and some of the batting averages in the lineup were: .212, .222, .228, .178, .213, .205, .205, and .229.

And the offense is the good part about the team...

The Athletics will take on the Mariners again Wednesday night at 9:40 p.m. ET.
