Oakland Athletics Fans Bring Playoff Style Energy For 'Reverse Boycott Night'
The Oakland Athletics fans are bringing the noise during the team's "Reverse Boycott" night on Tuesday.
As the team plays host to the Tampa Bay Rays, the fans are there in droves protesting the ownership of John Fisher.
The noise of the crowd caught the attention of noted baseball personality Jared Carrabis of Draftkings, who posted about it on Twitter:
Sounds like a playoff game for the reverse boycott in Oakland.
He's right, that is absolutely playoff-style sound as Shinatro Fujinami was about to deal to Yandy Diaz. You wouldn't know the difference if you were at Game 5 of a Divisional Round series.
A's fans are protesting Fisher's ownership because they believe he has sabotaged the team by trading away players like Chris Bassitt, Sean Manaea, Sean Murphy, Matt Chapman and Matt Olson in recent years. They also believe he hasn't done enough to try to get a new ballpark built in Oakland and is now trying to move the team to Las Vegas.
They are there showing the world that the fanbase will support the team in Oakland -- if they are given a product worth supporting.
At the time of this posting, the Rays and A's are tied at 0-0 in the top of the third inning. The Rays enter the game with the best record in baseball at 48-21 while the A's have the worst at 18-50.
The A's have won six in a row though entering the game, so we'll see if the fan momentum can carry them to seven straight.
