On Thursday, the Oakland Athletics announced that they will play in Sacramento for the 2025, 2026 and 2027 seasons. There is also a chance they could play there in 2028 if the new stadium in Las Vegas is not ready in time.

It's the latest in the sad and ongoing saga involving the A's, who have been relegated to a laughing stock on the field - and who have been used in a never-ending battle over stadium financing and relocation plans for the last several years.

Furthermore, it's another gut punch for A's fans in the Bay Area who are now seeing their team leave a few years earlier than anticipated. Though Sacramento and Oakland are not particularly far from each other, it's still not the same.

To make matters once, A's owner John Fisher callously celebrated the Sacramento news on Thursday with some embarrassing public comments.

Per John Shea on social media:

In Sac, John Fisher spoke of playing at a minor-league park and "being able to watch some of the greatest players in baseball, whether they be Athletics players or Aaron Judge and others, watching home runs out of the most intimate ballpark in all of MLB for the next 3 years.”

To hear that your owner is excited about seeing OPPOSING players come in and hit home runs in your ballpark is just another example of how Fisher doesn't care about the A's at all.

The new ballpark in Sacramento is a minor league one that seats only 10,000 people. It will easily be the smallest ballpark in the big leagues.
