Congratulations are in order for Pittsburgh Pirates legend Andrew McCutchen on Sunday.

'Cutch recorded his 2,000th career hit in a 2-1 Pirates win over the New York Mets. He's the fifth-active player to record 2,000 hits, joining Miguel Cabrera (Detroit Tigers), Joey Votto (Cincinnati Reds), Nelson Cruz (San Diego Padres) and Elvis Andrus (Chicago White Sox).

With the win, Pittsburgh moved to 34-30 on the season. They have won seven of their last 10 games and now lead the Milwaukee Brewers by 0.5 games in the National League Central.

McCutchen started the game at designated hitter and went 1-3 on the game. He's now hitting .265 for the season with eight homers and 23 RBI. He's also added seven stolen bases and has posted an .804 OPS.

It's been a nice reunion year for McCutchen, who also spent 2009-2017 in Pittsburgh. McCutchen also has played for the Giants, Yankees, Phillies and Brewers.

He's a five-time All-Star, a four-time Silver Slugger, a Gold Glove winner and he won the MVP in National League in 2013.

The Pirates will be off on Monday before opening a series with the division-rival Chicago Cubs. Luis Ortiz (1-2, 4.23 ERA) will pitch against Jameson Taillon (1-4, 7.02 ERA).

The Cubs are currently 28-36 and in fourth place in the NL Central. They are 6.0 games back of the Pirates and have lost six of their last 10 games.
