I'll be perfectly honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Nike 'City Connect' uniforms. There are certainly some that I like (White Sox, Cubs, Angels) but there's some that don't do anything for me (Rangers).

That said, the Pittsburgh Pirates uniforms that were revealed on Thursday? Those are incredible. Try and change my mind.

These uniforms feature a yellow and black scheme akin to the "We are family" Pirates while also honoring modern heritage.

You can see the pictures below from Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net.

I absolutely love them and Creamer does an awesome job of explaining the full nuance of the uniforms in the tweet above.

He also has the following on the Pirates schedule for wearing these beauties.

The Pirates will debut their new City Connect uniform on Tuesday, June 27, against the San Diego Padres; from that date forward, they will be worn for every Pirates Friday home game except for the Roberto Clemente Day game on September 15th. In total, the Pirates will wear this set seven times in 2023.

PITTSBURGH PIRATES CITY CONNECT UNIFORM SCHEDULE

  • Tuesday, June 27 vs San Diego Padres
  • Friday, June 30 vs Milwaukee Brewers
  • Friday, July 14 vs San Francisco Giants
  • Friday, July 28 vs Philadelphia Phillies
  • Friday, August 11 vs Cincinnati Reds
  • Friday, August 25 vs Chicago Cubs
  • Friday, September 29 vs Miami Marlins

The Pirates are the 20th franchise to release the City Connect uniforms.

Perhaps the uniforms will help spark the play on the field. Pittsburgh has lost nine straight and is now 34-39 on the season.
