Earlier this week, we heard that longtime Cincinnati Reds' slugger Joey Votto was getting interest in free agency.

While Votto has not signed with anyone at this point in the offseason calendar, he told 'The Athletic' that he's feeling good physically and is not concerned about not having a team yet.

Per the story:

“I’m typically a left-handed player that has performed well against right-handed pitching and there’s just not a lot of those,” he said. “I don’t get concerned about finding a job. If I’m healthy, strong and in a good place with my swing. I just don’t worry about it. Maybe I should. I understand that I’m a pretty limited position guy, but I’ve got the thing, the left-handed hitting thing. I’ve got it when I’m playing well.”

A lifetime .294 hitter, Votto is one of the more accomplished players of the last 20 years. He's got a .409 on-base percentage lifetime and has hit 356 career home runs. The slugger also owns a pristine resume with six All-Star appearances, a Gold Glove and an MVP award.

He's led the league in on-base percentage in seven separate seasons. He spent 17 years with the Reds and is a borderline Hall of Famer.

He hit .202 last season as he battled injury. Unfortunately, this led him to accumulate just 208 at-bats. But Votto made clear that he's healthy and ready to go in 2024, and if he truly is, he could put together another solid season.

The Toronto Blue Jays are one team we keep hearing about with regards to Votto, given that he's an Ontario, Canada native.
