Seattle Mariners Go Viral For Meeting with Run DMC Member

The Seattle Mariners were looking to have a little fun as they embark on a long roadtrip, but they got more than they bargained for.

The Seattle Mariners got more than they bargained for in the fun department on Wednesday.

After beating the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday by a score of 5-4, the team got ready for a cross-country flight to take on the New York Mets, by having a little fun courtesy of Julio Rodriguez.

The superstar outfielder got the entire team matching jump suits and hats for a "Run DMC" themed flight, but manager Scott Servais surprised the group by getting a message from Run DMC member Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons.

Per Jake Garcia on Twitter:

The Mariners are headed to New York City fitted in Run-DMC tracksuits and a message from Rev Run himself.

“Keep reppin. Keep rockin. Keep rollin. Y’all are on fire.”

Check it out from Julio’s IG:

The Mariners certainly are on fire right now, just finishing up a month in which they won 21 games (a franchise record). Seattle now has a share of first place in the American League West and is tied with the Houston Astros. Seattle is 76-57 and a season-best 19 games over .500.

As for Run DMC....the following comes from Spotify's info section:

More than any other hip-hop group, Run-D.M.C. are responsible for the sound and style of the music. As the first hardcore rap outfit, the trio set the sound and style for the next decade of rap. With their spare beats and excursions into heavy metal samples, the trio were tougher and more menacing than their predecessors Grandmaster Flash and Whodini. In the process, they opened the door for both the politicized rap of Public Enemy and Boogie Down Productions, as well as the hedonistic gangsta fantasies of N.W.A. At the same time, Run-D.M.C. helped move rap from a singles-oriented genre to an album-oriented one -- they were the first hip-hop artist to construct full-fledged albums, not just collections with two singles and a bunch of filler

Seems like a team experiencing a lot of good vibes...

The Mariners take on the Mets on Friday night at 7:10 p.m. ET.
