The Seattle Mariners lost to the Baltimore Orioles, 6-4 in extra innings on Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped the Mariners to 37-38 on the season and means they need to win on Sunday to go home with an even road trip and an even record.

Despite the loss, the game was memorable for M's star Julio Rodriguez and for a young fan.

Rodriguez went 3-5 on the day with a homer and a stolen base. He raised his average to .243 for the year. That was his 13th homer of the year to go along with 41 RBI and 17 steals.

In addition to his power at the plate, Rodriguez also showed off his glove, robbing a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

You can watch that play here.

While the catch itself was memorable and goes at the top of the defensive highlight reel of Rodriguez's young career, what was extra memorable came next.

Heading into the dugout, Rodriguez gave the ball to a young fan in a Rodriguez jersey. Both he and his family were overcome with emotion and you can watch that below.

This is part of the reason that Rodriguez is so well liked and is so vital to the Mariners. In addition to being a great player, he's also a great ambassador for the sport, and the city of Seattle.

The Mariners and Orioles will wrap up the series on Sunday when they play at 1:35 p.m. ET. George Kirby pitches against Kyle Bradish.
