After spending one season as the hitting coach for the Miami Marlins, Brant Brown is heading to Seattle to join the Seattle Mariners coaching staff.

Daniel Kramer of MLB.com had the news:

The Mariners have an agreement in place to bring Brant Brown onto their coaching staff, according to a source … Brown was the Marlins hitting coach last season, his lone in Miami.

The role is unspecified at the moment but we heard on Wednesday that there may be a more prominent role in Seattle for Brown if he were to take a job.

Earlier in his career, he worked with Seattle at the minor league level.

It's not a shock that Brown would want a job with Seattle. After all, it's a more prominent role reportedly and the team has won 88 games or more in each of the last three seasons and appears close to being ready to compete again on a national stage.

But on the other side, Seattle is one of the most notoriously difficult places to hit in all of baseball, so it remains to be seen how he can navigate the challenges of coaching at T-Mobile Park.

For what it's worth, prominent Mariners social media figures are excited about the move.

Per @MarinerMuse on "X:"

It really does feel like the Brant Brown hire will not only help some of the current Mariners have 2023 Jorge Soler-type 2024 seasons, but also literally get the 2024 Mariners Jorge Soler. First significant step in the right direction for the org this offseason.

Soler is a free agent who worked with Brown in Miami this past year. He fits the profile of what the Mariners need, a power-hitting, right-handed, corner outfielder.
