Seattle Mariners Post Classy Tribute to Outgoing Seattle Seahawks Coach
After longtime head coach Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks surprisingly parted ways this week, the Seattle Mariners posted a brief but classy tribute on social media.
The team posted "A tip of the cap to Coach @PeteCarroll. The City of Seattle will be forever be grateful for your contributions to our sports community," along with a picture of Carroll, some Seahawks Super Bowl champions, and longtime M's ace Felix Hernandez.
The Seahawks won the Super Bowl during the 2013 season (calendar year 2014) by beating the Denver Broncos. It's the only Super Bowl championship in team history. In the picture with Carroll and Hernandez (presumably in the 2014 MLB season), is wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, quarterback Russell Wilson, linebacker Bobby Wager and linebacker Malcolm Smith, just to name a few.
The Mariners will now look to do their part to bring another championship to the "Emerald City." The M's are the only franchise to never appear in a World Series, and join the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies as teams to never win one.
Seattle went 88-74 last season and missed the playoffs by 1.0 game in 2023. This offseason has been marred by a desire to save money, which has caused them to trade slugger Eugenio Suarez and talented youngster Jarred Kelenic. Furthermore, they let Teoscar Hernandez go in free agency, while adding Luis Urias, Mitch Haniger, Anthony DeSclafani and Luke Raley.
Seattle will have its work cut out for it in the talented American League West, which features the World Champion Texas Rangers and the always good Houston Astros.
